- Unfortunately, the Supra's flash ROM only allows you to update controller
- code; the modulation code is manufactured into the Rockwell data pump and
- cannot be changed short of tossing out the chip - which includes the digital
- signal processor as well as the code.

- With the Sportster, both controller and modulation code are in EPROM and this
- allows USR to do just about anything they please... including bug fixes,
- adjustments to compensate for interoperability concerns, new features, etc.
- The only limit is the computing power of the CPU and DSP in the modem (and
- even that's negotiable in the Couriers which have daughterboards). So, while
- you may have to pay for some new ROMs ($25 for the V.34+ upgrade, isn't it?),
- that price is for something that would cost at least as much on the Supra...
- if it's at all possible.
